  1. 01Edra reads it, usually the same evening. Nothing is auto-replied.
  2. 02Within two working days you get either a date for a site visit or an honest reason why we are not the right practice.
  3. 03The first visit is free and takes about ninety minutes. We walk the lot, we take the compass bearings, and we come back at a different hour if we can.
  4. 04Only then does anybody mention a fee.

If you would rather talk first, Prem answers the studio phone between 09:30 and 17:00, Tuesday to Thursday.

Finding us

The net loft is the grey building between the chandlery and the small-boat ramp, north end of Front Street. The street door is unmarked; go up the outside stair and turn left at the top. There is no lift.

Parking

Two hours free behind the museum on Cameron Road, four minutes' walk. The harbour lot is closer but fills by nine. If you are coming from the ferry, the 15 stops on Comox and takes six minutes.

Bring

The title, any survey you already have, and photographs taken from the road at two different times of day. If you have none of that, come anyway.

Come at four if you can

The west wall takes the light from about half past three and the whole room turns the colour of the floor. It is the best twenty minutes to look at a drawing in, and we schedule first visits around it whenever the calendar allows.

Last few things

Before you send it

Five things people ask in the first email. If yours is not here, ask it in the form above — we would rather answer it than have you guess.

Enquiries answered withinworking days2

Do you charge for the first visit?

No. Ninety minutes on the lot, the bearings taken, and a conversation. If it is further than Ladysmith we will ask to combine it with another visit, which can mean waiting a fortnight.

We have not bought the lot yet. Too early?

It is the best time. Three of our eight clients commissioned the feasibility note before completing, and one of them walked away from the purchase because of it. That $4,200 was the cheapest money they ever spent.

Can you take over a scheme someone else drew?

Sometimes, and only after we have spoken to whoever drew it. We will not take over a job that is in dispute, and we will not re-badge someone else's drawings as ours.

How do you invoice?

Stages 01 to 04 are invoiced on completion of each stage, net fourteen days. Stage 05 is monthly against certified progress. We have never asked for a deposit and we have never written off a fee.

Will our house end up on this site?

Only if you want it to. Two of the eleven we have finished are not shown anywhere and never will be. We ask once, at handover, and we take no for an answer.
